It was July of 1988 that God birthed in the heart of Rickey G. King the vision of Living Faith. Pastor King ministered and served while God prepared him for what was to come. November 1994 Pastor King and his helpmeet Sandra King began a bible study in their home. The bible study grew and overflowed the King’s home. On January 1, 1995 Living Faith held its inaugural service, beginning at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, transitioning to New Directions Baptist Church, and finally at Foxwood Apartments. At each location Living Faith outgrew the location while reaching many souls.
In April 1996, Living Faith made 4606 Bricker its new home. During its tenure at the Bricker location many goals were reached, such as Living Faith went debt free, acquired five parcels of property, a commercial 15 passenger van, two keyboards and Hammond organ.
In May 2008, Living Faith made the journey from 4606 Bricker to 4310 Holloway Drive, while still growing tremendously. Living Faith has had a goal of “Vision 100” for many years and it is in the year of 2013 that we witnessed God’s mighty work, met and exceeded that goal. While the year proved to be a tremendous blessing to the Faith family it was also a year of loss. In February we lost the “Mother of Our Church” Janie Dirden and in August we lost one of our founding members Carol Lewis. However, we did not allow our sadness to cloud our joys and continued to minister.
Thus, in December 2013, Living Faith received over $80,000 in renovations. This includes new flooring, refinished pews, reupholstered chairs, new pulpit furniture, new sanctuary lighting and paved parking lot.
The Living Faith Family continues to evangelize every member, friend, relative, associate, and neighbor. We will continue to seek after our church vision of “Families becoming Friends and Friends becoming Family.”
